What Is Helminthic Therapy?
Helminthic therapy is an emerging, evidence-informed approach that works with the immune system rather than against it. It involves the use of microscopic, non-reproducing organisms that temporarily reside in the digestive tract, helping to calm chronic immune activation.

By reintroducing organisms that humans co-evolved with for millennia, helminthic therapy aims to support healthier immune regulation and reduce inflammation — without suppressing immune function.

What Are Mutualistic Helminths?
The term helminth refers to a broad category of worm-like organisms. While many are parasitic, a distinct subset are mutualistic, meaning they can coexist in the human gut without causing harm and may even provide physiologic benefit.

These mutualistic species interact with the immune system in ways that help maintain balance, potentially lowering chronic inflammation and preventing overreaction to harmless triggers.

How Is the Therapy Administered?
We use a specific organism called HDC (Hymenolepis diminuta cysticercoids), which has been shown to gently support immune balance. It does not reproduce in humans and is considered a natural immune-training program. The organisms are microscopic and administered orally in a small amount of liquid solution every 2-3 weeks. While some people hesitate at the concept of ingesting living organisms, this is similar in principle to taking probiotics — living microbes used to influence the microbiome and immune system.

Why Consider Helminthic Therapy?
Modern living conditions have largely eliminated the organisms that once helped regulate immune function. Their absence has been linked with rising rates of autoimmune, allergic, and inflammatory disorders. Controlled reintroduction under professional guidance may help restore balance and support the body’s natural ability to self-regulate

Who Might Be a Good Candidate?
This pilot program may be appropriate for adults experiencing chronic immune-mediated or inflammatory symptoms who are interested in exploring a biologically based, non-FDA-approved approach to immune support.

When Helminthic Therapy May Not Be Appropriate
This therapy may not be suitable:

During active severe infection
During pregnancy
During chemotherapy or profound immunosuppression
For individuals unable to participate in scheduled follow-up

About the Pilot Program

This is a limited pilot program offered at a reduced rate compared to full-program pricing.
The purpose of the pilot is to observe real-world outcomes, gather participant feedback, and refine protocols before wider implementation. Participants receive individualized guidance, education, and follow-up through Healthsteading’s integrative framework.

What to Expect in the Pilot

Participants will receive structured guidance before, during, and after the 4-month program. Each participant will begin with an initial consult, receive instructions for at-home dosing and symptom tracking, and complete one follow-up at the end of the program. Support is educational and collaborative, with an emphasis on observing and understanding your body’s responses over time.
